About Skip's Tavern

Skip's Tavern has a colorful history. The property was a pool hall many years ago and then became a bar called the Cherokee. All that remains of the Cherokee is the oval bar and a mural across the entire front of the bar's interior.
For a few short years the bar was operated under the name of Alfonso's and was then sold to the present owner in 1990, who changed the name to Skip's Tavern.

Skip's Tavern has been sponsoring pool teams in the San Francisco Tavern Pool Association since 1990 and has continuously hosted a weekly R&B Jam Session since 1996. The current owner has made many gradual changes over the years to include a collection of pictures and posters which include old San Francisco, Marilyn Monroe, 49ers, Giants and Misc. stuff.

The most significant changes, however, are a professional house sound system, a stage, a new air-conditioning system and totally renovated rest rooms. The owner prides himself on having the dingy tavern with the nicest rest rooms in the entire city.
